Listening and Signposting

The Hub is where we get to welcome members of the public into a safe and confidential space to share conversation and a cup of tea. We are open between 10 am and 2 pm Tuesday - Friday.

At the Hub we recognise the importance of having someone to talk with and having face to face conversations. This is why, at the Hub, our trained volunteers offer a safe and secure space for clients to come and talk and be signposted on to community initiatives tailored to their needs. Each client will also have the opportunity to be signposted to the local church where they can be welcomed into a church community and from where they can engage with additional services.

It is from the Hub that we also coordinate our other care services. These include:

Phonefriends

Some clients prefer to have conversations from the comfort of their homes. This may be for a variety of reasons but can often be a service chosen by those clients who are unable to leave their homes for medical reasons. Our phonefriend volunteers will each be assigned a client with whom they will have regular contact. This often takes the form of 1 or 2 phone calls a week.

Quote - Client or volunteer (photo???)

If you would like to register for a phonefriend you can do so here

Face to face befriender

Our face to face befrienders are volunteers, who have undergone an enhanced DBS check, and visit clients in the comfort of their own home. Where suitable this can include trips out for a coffee or to the shops together with your befriender. For some of our clients this really is such a lifeline and is a wonderful programme that helps to tackle loneliness head on. Some of our befrienders have maintained relationships with their clients over many years which is a great representation of the positive impact this service has. For many clients seeing their befriender once a week may be the only face to face contact they have.

If you would like to register for a face to face befriender you can do so here

Deliveries

We do take referrals for regular or one-off food or prescription deliveries in emergencies although we try to limit these and instead support clients to put in place home delivery.
